Food For Thought Monthly Recipes to feed the body
and spirit There are a few things that I feel just MUST be shared and taught regarding food and how it effects us Spiritually. Many people are unaware of just how powerful an influence food has on our spiritual awareness, attunment and vibratory level, and I honestly at times feel ill watching what many people eat what they think is "food", but is really just a combination of chemicals, preservatives and lower vibrational elementals and radical atomic elements that really ravage our whole energy system. So, the thought came to me that it is important to share a little bit with my clients and friends about the SPIRITUAL aspects of food, so that you can have the information to use in your life however you feel is appropriate. Now I am not going to get into a lot of science stuff here, but will stick maily to the spiritual influence that food has on our bodies, and WHY the energy of particular foods may not be vibrationally or energetically in alignment or balance with many people as humanity grows spiritually. At the bottom of this article, you can look for monthly postings of recipes that are fresh, alive foods that will leave your bodies cells and your Spirit feeling alive, glowing and spiritually balanced. Now granted, everybody has different tastes in food, depending on culture, lifestyle and where you might live. But there are a few spiritual teachings that can apply to everyone who is trying to feel more in balance and healthy on all levels. Animal Meats Now I am not going to sit here and say that you should not eat meat. I
grew up on a farm, we had farm animals that we ate. Today most of the meats that we have access to are raised on mass ranches in appalling conditions, the animals there know of no love, they stand in mud and manure and are injected with all kinds of antibiotics, steroids and growth hormones to make them grow faster and be more resistant the the rampant diseases that come from standing in your own poop all your life. I live in the midwest, I know this is how it is because I see it and smell it all summer long. After that sad life, the animals are usually shipped to a meat packing plant where they are killed in awful and painful ways, and they die alone and terrified and in pain. Now, here is the spiritual part: Emotion has energy, everything in life is energy and light. |
When those animals die in that way, the FEAR the ALONENESS the PAIN and trauma are "IMPRINTED" into the cells of that animals body forever. CELLS HAVE MEMORY, this is a scientific proven fact, heart transplant patients report that they many times have "memories" from the other person who's heart they have received..... Why? Because the cells of the heart have retained those memories and thoughts, and even after being transplanted into another human being, those thoughts and feelings still exist on some level within the DNA.
When we eat meats from animals that have died in fear and pain, and lived miserable lives, those memories and emotions enter our bodes and cells as well, and leave us feeling.... well.....YUCKY on many levels.
For this reason, when I have the option to do so, I choose to eat meats from animals that have either been small organic farm raised that died in a humane way, or animals that were free range hunted by people that I know took the time to pray with the animal and to bless it's spirit and be there with it as it dies so that it was not alone. The difference in the meat is VERY VERY noticable. If there are no such meats available to me, then I usually just choose to not eat meat, or if I REALLY feel the need to eat that meat, you can bet I will ZAP IT (see below) very well before I take one bite.
. It is that simple, and it is a Spiritual choice in that I choose to keep my vibration as high as possible, and having a lot of extra pain, fear and chemical energies in my body from contaminated meats is not fun and can even make me as a sensitive empathic person fel very ill.
Every food has a certain vibration, or energy to it, and some foods tend to have a "higher" rate of vibration than others, that is, they have MORE LIFEFORCE ENERGY for our bodies and spirits to use.
Naturally, the more natural, unprocessed, chemical free and alive the food is, the more energy and lifeforce is available within the cells of the food. So, when you are doing a lot of spiritual work or want to keep your vibrations high, it is best to choose foods that are alive, such as raw vegies, salads, fresh fruits combined with fresh herbs and sesasonings whenever possible.
Here are a few spiritual things I have learned about food over the years:
1. When in doubt, ZAP IT! If you for any reason are wondring about the energy of a certain food or feel perhaps it has too much processing, you can always add a little bit of lifeforce energy to it by doing some reiki on it, that is, zap it with some energy run through your hands and say a short blessing to bring the vibration back into balance.
2. Eat as much fresh, alive and organic foods as possible.
3. Lemon juice is a wonderful spiritual cleanser, it works to stimulate your kidney's and get rid of extra stuff, spiritually if you are going through a hard or challening transition, drinking fresh lemonade is both refreshing and spiritually good.
4. Eat locally and be aware of your local foods that grow naturally. If you have a lot of chickweed or dandylions in your area, then you have excellent salad makings, if you live in Hawaii, then naturally you will gravitate towards fresh alive fruits and fresh fish... but if you live in the midwest, there are not a lot of fresh fruits in winter, so take stock of what your local area has and then make the best food choices possible based on your local growing seasons. If you eat too much "out of season" (that is, if you eat tons of fruit in winter in the midwest or heavy soups in the warm south) then your body's spiritual balance is sort of thrown off, eating with the season and your local area helps your body to maintain balance with the energies of the Earth and what grows naturally in your area.
5. KISS - Keep it simple silly- Keep your meals and foods simple, fresh and the fresh herbs will stand out and your body will be able to digest it more easily, leaving more energy for other things.
Recipes from my Kitchen
Here are a few of my own recipes that leave me feeling refreshed, energized and balanced after eating them. Most of them are fast and easy to prepare and keep the lifeforce energy as high as possible. I'll add a new recipe every month.
Summer Salad Stuffer
1 ripe tomato, cut and diced
1 fresh cucumber, cut and diced
a good handful of fresh parsley, chopped
some tasty Olive Oil
Apple Cider vinager
Fresh Basil or Mint (depending on your tastes)
1 green onion, chopped
salt to taste
pepper to taste
1 tiny pinch of Cumin, a middle eastern spice
Feta Cheese or Mozzeralla Cheese (depending on your tastes)
This is soooo easy! Just mix everything together.... Add enough Olive Oil to give everything a good coat and then splash some apple cider vinager on it, then add your spices. You can add fresh Basil or Mint, (but not both!) one leaves a spicy taste and the other a fresh cool taste. Throw in a little or a lot of crumbled Feta cheese or shredded mozeralla cheese, the Feta will give you a richer taste while the mozeralla is nice and mild.... then toss it all and let it sit in the fridge for a couple of hours to let the flavors blend..... YUMMY!
You can add this topper into a pita filled with vegie burger or hummus, you can use it as a dip with sesame crackers, it tastes wonderful on top of just about any sandwich, and combined with some falafil in a Middle Eastern meal it is heavenly! Try it inside of a tortilla with hard boiled egg in the morning, or on top of your tuna sandwich or salad in the afternoon. It is also a good "cooler" addition to any spicy type of dish and makes a good chip dip for those who don't like spicy foods. Of course, I love this little salad, and just today I sat down and ate an entire bowl of it just on its own with a few sesame crackers!
Yum-Yum Hummus
Ok, This is sooooooooo easy and very delicious
you need:
1 can garbanzo beans OR 2 cups of fresh cooked garbanzo beans
Olive Oil
Tahini
Lemon Juice
fresh parsley
cumin
All you do for this is drop the beans into a blender, add
just a tad of water, and then add lemon juice and a few tablespoons of lemon juice. Your
Olive Oil and tahini are added to taste, usually a few tablespoons of each will do,
however I REALLY like tahini, so I go a little heavy on that. throw in a few pinches of
fresh parsley and a pinch of cumin and blend away. Stop when it starts to get kind of
creamy, but still a little lumpy and taste it, if you want more flavor, add in some lemon
juice, more cumin or more tahini, just season to taste! YUM!
